The cow is gentle domesticated animal. It has four legs, two big beautiful eyes and a long head. It has two horns and long bushy tail. Cows are usually white, red, black and brown in color. Some of them may be spotted and many have more than one color. They feed on grass, shrubs, straw and leaves. Cow gives us milk. From milk we can make curd, butter, cream, ghee and many other delicious foods. Cowdung is also used to coat the mud walls of our houses. It keeps our houses free from pests. Cowdung is also used as fuel and manure for plants. Cowhide is used for making leather goods. The male cow is called a ‘bull’ or ‘ox’. A baby cow is called a ‘calf’. Bulls are used to pull carts and to plough fields. The cow is a great boon to us. We should take good care of its health.
